Daman and Diu is the island of India. It is located in west India. Daman and Diu-culture, people, festival and fair is an important part of the social life of the union territory. The culture of Daman and Diu represents a wonderful blend of European, tribal and Indian element of art forms. Daman and Diu has a multi faced cultural heritage. Music and dance is an important part of the social- cultural life of Daman and Diu. 
Daman is divided by the Daman Ganga River into two parts, namely Nani-daman  and Moti-daman. Ironically, Nani-daman is the larger of the two towns. It is the downtown area that holds most of the important entities like the major hospitals, supermarkets and major residential areas. While Moti-daman is mainly the old city inhabited mostly by the fishing communities and government officers.

Daman is a popular tourist destination, mainly due to the freedom to drink liquor, which is prohibited in the neighboring state of Gujarat. It mainly attracts tourists from neighboring areas like Vapi, Bhilad, Valsad, Surat and even Baroda. The two well-known beaches of Daman are Devka beach and Jampore beach ,which are in Nani-Daman and Moti-Daman respectively.

The people of Daman and Diu are mostly Hindu by religion and
there are some Christian and Muslim in the region. The rate of urbanization is quite high in this part of India in comparison to the entire country. The majority of social custom are related to the Hindu religion.
Two major festivals of Daman and Diu are Garba Dance and folk music dance. Some of most important festival of this island is Diwali, Dushera, Holi and Christmas. The young generations of the region participate in the Garba dance. They dance wearing beautiful dresses.
The people of Daman and Diu speak Gujarati language. Majority of this island speaks Hindi. English is used for officially purpose.
The folk dance and music is very important component of the cultural life of the Daman and Diu. The most famous folk dance and music of Daman and Diu are Mando dance and music, Verdigao dance and Vera dance. People of all age group take part in the folk dance festival.
