Dubai: Known for Its Iconic Architecture..

Dubai conjures up images of tall buildings, stunningly shaped and spectacular. The first image that comes to mind is of course the Burj Khalifa. The tallest building in the world, Burj Khalifa, is the epitome of all that Dubai symbolises - the motivation for creating bigger, faster, bolder structures, icons of power, class, wealth and sophistication.
·         The Burj Khalifa stands at a height of 829.8 m, and a trip to the observation deck on the 124th floor is a must-do when you get to Dubai. You can see the spectacular skyline of the city.

·         Talking about Dubai and architecture, how can one ignore the Burj Al-Arab? Standing at 321 m, it is the largest hotel in the world, and the iconic structure catches the eye because it has been designed to look like a billowing sail. When the Al-Arab is lit up at night, it is a sight that is worth travelling all the way to Dubai and capturing!

·         Another property that is also symbolic of Dubai's iconic architectural sights is the Palm Jumeirah. The project off the Jumeirah coast is designed in the shape of a palm leaf. Palm Jumeirah is one of the trio of manmade Palm Islands. The World Islands are a group of 300 man-made islands that form into a map of the world when you see I fro the air.

·         Take a tour of Dubai Marina, and you will realise that all the buildings here are jostling for your mindspace and attention. For instance, the Cayan Tower, which has a 90-degree twist. The building looks like some force has twisted it along its length. Also launched is a structure called the Sparkle Towers, which has been inspired by Swarovski crystals. The building is a take on the luxury and glitz that has now come to symbolise Dubai.

·         The Dubai Creek Golf and Yacht Club, is one of the city's most beautiful buildings, designed to look like the dhow. It is symbolic of the fishing and harbour heritage of Dubai.

·         If you are still looking for more examples of Dubai's iconic structures, you should check out the Al Yaqoub Tower, also called the Big Ben of Dubai. The building looks like the Big Ben of the UK, and has 69 floors and is among the top 15 tallest buildings in Dubai.

·         Have you seen the Swiss cheese building in Dubai? If not, you should. The building has been designed to look like cheese, with the outer wall resembling the Arabian mashrabiya or veil/screen to keep the building cool!

·         Last but certainly not the least, make a trip to the Dubai Mall. Not just for the shopping, but to enjoy the architectural design of the biggest shopping mall in the world.

Most Beautiful Places to Visit in Argentina.....

Argentina became independent from Spain in 1861. Its historical development was characterized by political upheavals and internal conflicts. Democratic rule finally succeeded in 1983 after several years under a military junta, but economic challenges continued to persist. Nevertheless, Argentina is a land of resilient, passionate, and forward-looking people. It is also a gifted with incomparable sights and natural bounty. Argentina is indeed of the must-see countries in South America, and here are three locations that first-time visitors should put down on their itinerary.
The progressive metropolis is Buenos Aires is the beating heart of Argentina and is therefore not a place to be missed. The city has similarities to the capital cities of Europe, but it is still a Latin American city. The city streets are busy with people going about their business, but these people are also friendly to those who choose to learn more about their beloved country. Buenos Aires is also a melting pot of influences, best manifested in the wide range of availability of international cuisine, from French to Scandinavian, to Thai and Lebanese. Local fare is affordable and always a sumptuous affair and every tourist must sit down in one of the many steakhouses or parillas for a taste of the perfect Argentinean steak.
The city is the birthplace of Tango, the world-famous steamy and sensual dance from Argentina. If anyone wants to perfect his or her moves, or want to learn to dance the tango, then Buenos Aires is the place to be. There are dance events or milongas to attend. Moreover, salons and cafes provide plenty of chances for tango enthusiasts to enjoy this form of entertainment.
The Los Glaciares National Park in the Patagonia of Argentina is a protected area that is frequented by tourists from different part of the world for a chance to see and explore the Perito Moreno Glacier. IT is located about 78 kilometers from El Calafate, or approximately two hours by bus. This glacier is one of 48 glaciers found in the Southern Patagonian Ice Field in the South American Andes. The glacier is one of the three that continues to grow. The glacier's terminus is found abutting the waters of Argentino Lake and is five kilometers wide.
Tours are available for visitors who want to view the magnificently huge body of frozen water. There is a visitor center, which offers a panoramic view of the glacier. Trekking tours are available as well for the more adventurous sort.
The body of water known in Spanish as Cataratas del Iguazú and in Portuguese as Cataratas do Iguaçu can be found on the Iguazu River at the border of Misiones (Argentina) and Parana (Brazil). Although the length of the river is mostly within the borders of Brazil, the waterfall is mostly found within Argentina. The glorious and powerful roar of flowing water is irresistible to tourists. Based on local folklore, this waterfall is believed to have been created by the rage of a deity who was betrayed by a local woman. The deity condemned the lovers to an eternal fall.

Argentina is a wonderful and exciting place to visit. Make sure that you include these amazing locations to your list.

Factors to Consider When Buying Charter Boats

There are thousands of boats around the globe available for charter. If you narrow your choices to bareboat or crewed charter, select the type of boat, size of boat and other extra features, choosing the destination and time of year, finding the right charter boat becomes easy. Large charter companies often have a fleet of charter boats from a few leading models and builders. They opt for the select models because their quality has been tested to withstand the test of time. The factors to consider when choosing a charter boat include:
Many people avoid extensive use of the boats and high engine hours. However, boats that just sit around and do nothing have as many problems. Therefore, when shopping for a charter boat, find out how often maintenance is performed. Some of the charter companies insist on the inspection of the prop, the system and the hull for every charter that returns, while other companies keep a maintenance log for every system on the boat. Nevertheless, it is important to get as much information as you can possibly get about the maintenance of the boat. Furthermore, find out about any serious damage to the structure and systems. A charter company should be able to disclose information where a particular boat has run up a reef and is now patched.
The phase-out is a very critical aspect in the life of any charter boat. This has to do with the systematic process of maintaining all the equipment and systems. It is obvious that a boat can never be made new. However, the necessary repairs and replacement can be performed on the boat during the phase-out in order to bring it back to a fair wear & tear condition. Any reputable company will be able to provide you with a copy of the phase-out maintenance. This will help you see all the areas that have been inspected and repaired.

You can buy a charter boat from an individual or a charter company. If you contact an experienced yacht agent, he will be able to connect you to the right people. They will oversee the process of ensuring you get what you are looking for. He will provide references you can contact in order to find out their experience in the hands of the seller. However, regardless of whom you are buying from, it is advisable to hire the services of an independent surveyor who will be able to undertake a thorough inspection. He should be ready to check the engine, climb up the mast and be present for haul out.

Top Five Beautiful Places to Discover in Thailand !!

Thailand has something for everyone, from 5 star luxury seekers to money conscious back packers. It's a land with a fascinating history, breathtaking scenery, ancient temples and a long standing culture of Buddhism. With palm studded beaches, sugary white sands, azure seas and idyllic islands it's the ultimate place to relax and let the laid back atmosphere wash over you.
Probably one of the best known Thai destinations after Bangkok, Phuket was made famous as far back as 1974 when it featured in the Bond film, 'Man with the Golden Gun'. In Phuket you can experience a hedonistic lifestyle as you relax on miles and miles of soft sandy beaches by the shimmering aquamarine waters of the Andaman Sea. It's the perfect place to try out some water sports or just eat and drink in the many restaurants and bars which line the sands.
Another beach made famous on the big screen, Maya Bay played a central role in the 2000 film 'The Beach' starring Leonardo di Caprio. Beautiful white sand surrounded by coral reefs and limestone rocks; it proved to be the perfect location although the landscaping carried out by Fox productions didn't endear the film makers to the locals. It seems nature has now reclaimed its birthright, the 2004 tsunami removing most of the Fox productions landscaping and returning it to its natural state.
A major tourist destination, Kanchanaburi has a truly magnificent landscape with waterfalls, forests, rivers and caves dating back to the times of Neolithic man. It's the ultimate outdoor adventure park with all sorts of activities available from rafting, canoeing and fishing to golfing, mountain biking and bird watching. There are even treks into the dense jungle in search of elephants for those of you who like a little more adventure in your life. But if this seems too much like hard work then just relax on the beautiful white sand beaches.

Hindus, Buddhists and sea gypsies live in harmony in this hedonistic paradise where unspoiled beaches, clear emerald seas and craggy cliffs make up the familiar landscape of this area. Koh Phi Phi, like most islands, can only be reached by sea in one of the puttering colourful long tails and once you are there, you'll find that there are no roads and no traffic in this unspoilt haven of tranquillity and peace. In fact the most arduous thing you'll have to do here is raise your cocktail glass or maybe practice a few downward dogs during a yoga session on the pristine beaches.

If you're finding all this talk of relaxation too staid for your tastes and you'd prefer somewhere with a party atmosphere then head to Haad Rin, a beach which is more famous for its Full Moon Parties than for its natural attractions. That's not to say that it isn't beautiful, it still has the requisite golden sands, crystal clear waters but it also has a lively vibe which lasts all day and well into the night.

Use Your Common Sense and Enjoy Your Travels...

Preparation before travel..

The FCO advises that all travellers ensure that their vaccinations are up to date and make sure that you are covered by adequate travel and international health insurance. This advice also applies to overseas residents who are not protected by short-term travel insurers.

Look after yourself on your travels..

If you are offered a local alcoholic drink and don’t know the strength of the beverage then it’s best to avoid it. Spain used to have a reputation for trouble involving expatriates and holidaymakers in certain areas, but the FCO, in conjunction with the local police and hospitals, has managed to reduce these incidences.
Incidences of trouble due to drink are still prevalent in Turkey and the Greek islands, though these are more common among the younger party crowd.

Pre-existing medical conditions..

Whether you are in your middle years and suffer from angina, or younger and have diabetes, you should always tell your insurer about these conditions. If you don’t, you may find that you can’t be treated under the terms of your health insurance.
If you are moving to a hotter climate, you should be aware that this might affect your health. India, Thailand and the United Arab Emirates (UEA) all saw a rise in the number of hospitalisations according to the FCO.

Be prepared..

As long as you take adequate precautions, make sure you have the right vaccinations and don’t wander off into the wrong side of town, you’ll probably have a healthy and happy time overseas. It’s also a good idea to remain solvent and conserve your cash.
In total, 5 million Britons live abroad and as the number continues to grow, most of them have happy and successful lives in their chosen country of residence.

Top 5 World's Best Zoo......

There are some fantastic zoos around the world with cutting-edge animal enclosures focused on conservation, preservation and showcasing animals in a more natural environment. So if you’re travelling with kids or just want to connect with nature, don’t let the bad rap zoos often get put you off visiting these zoos. Here are some that we think are worth visiting.

Taronga Zoo, Sidney .....

Just catching the ferry to the Taronga Zoo in Sydney is an experience. The ferry takes you through Syndey Harbour, past the world-famous Opera House and is the perfect build up to one of the world’s best zoos. The location of the zoo on the shores of Sydney Harbour means you get to enjoy magnificent views of the city as you make you walk along the paths that connect animal enclosures. The zoo has a lovely variety of local and exotic species and a great aquarium. It’s definitely worth a visit if you’re staying in a Sydney holiday rental.

Singapore Zoo ....

The Singapore Zoo is located in a beautiful, lush rainforest area, next to Upper Seletar Reservoir. What makes the zoo stand out is the fantastic “open concept” exhibits, where moats, natural vegetation and other natural features separate you from the animals. There are still some glass walls to protect visitors from the more dangerous animals, but it’s a far cry from the traditional bars and cages that normally come to mind when you think of the word zoo. You can get up close and personal with nature here, feed an elephant, or watch orangutans interact with the crowd. The zoo has some fantastic exhibits like the Primate Kingdom, Wild Africa, Elephants of Asia, Australian Outback, Reptile Garden and great underwater views of penguins, polar bears and sea lions. It will also be opening a new River Safari exhibit later this year.

Popular exhibits include Elephant Odyssey, Panda Trek and the Lost Forest gorillas. There are several guided tours and special experiences that allow you to interact with the animals. National Zoological Gardens of South Africa, Pretoria .....

The National Zoological Gardens, is South Africa’s largest zoo. The zoo covers 85 hectares and includes an aquarium and reptile park. What makes the zoo so special is the overnight camping adventure. If you’ve ever wanted to hear the roar of a lion just before you go to bed, and the early morning stirring of the African bush, then this is the place to be. Guided tours start at the campsite and not only allow you to explore the zoo, but also give you an education in African folklore. There is also a night tour, where you can explore the world of nocturnal animals.

These are just a few of the zoos we think are worth visiting, but there are plenty of other world-class zoos, with interactive, educational and state-of-the-art exhibits. Some of our other favourites include Bronx Zoo in New York City, Henry Doorly Zoo in Omaha Nebraska, Zoo Praha in Prague and Australia Zoo in Queensland.

How to Decrease Your Chances of Lost Luggage....

If you travel enough, it's bound to happen to you eventually. Lost luggage is extremely inconvenient, frustrating, and sometimes costly. Here are some methods on how to decrease your chances of lost luggage.
Fly Direct:  How to decrease your changes of lost luggage is to fly direct. By having a direct flight, you reduce the number of times your luggage is handled. Not having your luggage transferred from plane to plane greatly reduces the chances that your luggage heads in the wrong direction.
Arrive Early: When you narrowly make your flight, there is a good chance your luggage won't make it at all. Arrive in plenty of time so that if your luggage has to make a few pit-stops on the way to the plane, there's plenty of time for it to do so.
Use the Main Counter: Tempting as it may be to use the curb-side check-in, you are better off using the main ticket counter. Instead of being moved from the curb to the main counter, your luggage goes straight on the conveyor. Just one less opportunity for it not to go to the right place!
Label Your Bags: Make sure your bags are labeled with your name, address, and phone number. If the stickers/tags are ripped off, this may be the only way for the airline to identify who the bag belongs to.
Remove Old Labels: Remove all old airline stickers and any tags with old information on them. Having dated information on your bag causes confusion and can cause your bag to be mis-routed.
Include Your Itinerary: If your exterior tags are removed, having a printed copy of your itinerary inside can help the airline identify your bags.
Check the Stickers: After the counter agent prints and labels your luggage, ask them if you can take a look. Make sure that they've put the correct stickers on them and that the destination is correct. These agents are often multi-tasking and it's easy for them to grab the wrong ones.
Make Your Bag Unique: Many "lost" bags aren't really lost, they're just grabbed by the wrong person. Make your luggage unique so that someone doesn't take it by accident. If you don't want to replace your luggage with a wild pattern, use colorful luggage straps or handle wraps to make it stand apart from the rest!

Fly the Right Airlines: Some airlines have more of a history of losing luggage than others. Do your research and fly airlines with a better track record of getting your luggage to the right place.

Important Steps to Walk on Great Wall of China..... Wonder of World!

No visitor to Beijing leaves without at least a quick trip to the Great Wall. Usually people visit the Wall at one of the two main heavily touristed sections: Mutianyu and Badaling. But there's a lot more.

Walking the Great Wall of China can be as ambitious as tackling the entire 1,800 miles from the Gobi Desert to the Yellow Sea or spending a morning or afternoon climbing a section with a tour group. Both approaches demand some physical fitness, the right shoes and preparation. Read about the history of the wall's construction so you can appreciate those many uneven steps. Obtain the necessary permits for a long trek well in advance of your travel dates.
·
             Passport and visa
·         Permits for longer trips
·         Sturdy sneakers or hiking shoes
·         Lightest possible gear pack
·         Water
·         Camera
·         Maps or guides

1. Book a half-day tour right from your Beijing hotel. Bring a bottle of water and a light bag, a windbreaker, hat, sunglasses and sunscreen and, of course, your camera. Pack some extra cash for shopping, tips and photographers at the wall. Obtain necessary government permits for a more ambitious independent hike. Start that process months in advance of travel to ensure your trip won't be delayed.
2. Pack your gear for a walk along all or a large section of the Great Wall and then try to halve its weight. Consult a good camping supply store for the lightest, most versatile tents, pack and gear. Get good maps and study recent trip diaries and guides. Break in your trekking shoes and don't forget to put lots of bandages and sunblock in the first-aid kit.
3. Decide whether you will begin in the Gobi Desert or at the Yellow Sea. Desert travel is arduous and slow going. The heat is fierce so plan walks for early morning and late afternoon. Create an itinerary and file it with a friend you will contact at regular intervals. This is essential safety procedure for an isolated, hazardous trip.
4. Accept local hospitality but exercise caution. The trip is as much about absorbing cultures as racking up mileage. Villagers may offer you meals and lodging. In remote areas this can be a trip-saver. Travel with a friend if possible; learn some basic Chinese before you go; and engage congenially but prudently with local people in the less-developed regions.
5. Adjust travel plans to suit reality. If your planned day's travel is too ambitious, slow down and let your contact know your revised schedule. If your pack is too heavy, give away the non essentials. Travel along the Great Wall can be rigorous but the trip shouldn't be an endurance test.
6. Select towns or cities with good Internet capabilities to send photos home. Document your trip for your own records and any use you may make of your notes when you return home. By regularly uploading data, you protect it from catastrophic loss in the event of some problem.
7. Keep your passport and important papers with some local currency in a body pack. Hide copies of all permits, visas, passport and credit card numbers in a separate place in your regular pack. Give your contact friend at home backup copies as well. Consider Medevac or travel medical insurance as a safeguard in the event you get sick or have an accident.

8. Enjoy the journey. Few people ever get to walk substantial parts of the Great Wall. Whether you go end-to-end or explore a length in depth, you will connect with Chinese history and culture and test your own limits on a memorable adventure.
